Review – Diaclone Powered System Set B Type
After the recent review of the Diaclone Powered System Set A Type (posted here), it is time that we turn our attention to the second Powered System toy in the line. This toy — once you look past the colors — is near-identical to that other design (the main torso sculpts are different), but as promised I’m using this review to take a look at the included drop pod/garage accessory.
One Storage Compartment
The above photo shows the two drop pods, one of the pilots, and the A Type suit. The pods are closed up and ready for transport . . . or for us to swing open the front doors and reveal that Diaclone Powered System Set B Type suit that is stored inside.
The little mecha suit folds up nicely, tucking its arms behind the body and crouching low so that the toy slots right inside the opened drop pod. It looks like all of those joints I outlined in the A Type review are put to good use.
Pilot Fits Inside!
Once the suit is removed from the drop pod/garage accessory, it is time we swing open the chest compartment to reveal the cockpit/cavity wher the small Dia-Naught pilot action figure slots in perfectly. The pilot itself is a pretty sweet part of the new Diaclone Reboot toyline (find at Amazon.com*), but let’s wait and take a closer look at the pilot in an upcoming review.
Ready for Battle!
With the pilot inside the suit, things are all set for a fun time on the battlefield. As I mentioned in the A Type review, the design of this Diaclone Powered System Set B Type toy leads to a hell of a lot of fun. The quality is as great as its twin, and it makes me happy to know that Takara is continuing with the creation of more small powered armor toys in this series.
If you’ve not yet given the Diaclone Reboot toyline (find at Amazon.com*) a shot then find any one of the toys today and have fun. Every single one I have opened has turned out to be a work of art and the series is one I hope lasts for at least another year or so.
For even more, please see my review of the Diaclone Powered System Set R & B Type/Cosmo Marines set.
Just wanted to point out, beyond the colors of suits A & B, there are also sculptural differences between the head/chestpiece.
@Benerator – Thanks! Tweaked things to address that. And yeah, totally obvious and I don’t know how I missed that detail.
Man these were sold at retail!
Ug, half my comment is missing I meant to say I WISH these were sold at retail!
