Review – Glyos System Infection Echo Morph

NOTE: This new Glyos System (Onell Design) toy review is of another free toy; the Infection Echo Morph came in the same box as the Cosmic Wave Exellis (review here) so keep that in mind as you read this short review of a cherry-flavored plastic action figure. (Toy is not really cherry-flavored, so please do not try to eat it.)

A Grab Bag of Bits

The Infection Echo Morph (still available as of this writing) is one of the more expensive Glyos System action figures, but that’s only because the toy comes packed with so many parts. All of the clear red bits you see in the photos in this review were included with the Infection Echo Morph . . . plus there are more parts than I show here (the figure also comes a clear red Gobon Blaster and a clear red Phase Arm). That’s a lot of pieces and the set has a lot of customization options.

Five Heads

While you do not get enough parts to build five completely different figures, the pack does come with five different heads, all in this cherry red color. You get a Sarvos, Scar Pheyden, Phanost, Exellis, and Govurom head in the set . . . and if you grab some other bodies or extra joints then you can easily construct more bodies to go with the massive batch of heads. The Govurom head is the newest of the bunch so a lot of releases are including those; hardcore Glyos fans may be tempted to order a total of five Infection Echo Morph sets but trust me when I say that is the path of madness and you’re going to be happier snagging one of these and several Buildman figures.

TheGodBeast’s Infection

Last year TheGodBeast (website, Twitter) released a special Glyos figure in this same colorway. The Infection figure was a smash with collectors (I should really post a review of mine) and it was pretty cool to see that the Infection Echo Morph offered the same colorway to a larger number of fans. You don’t need that older figure to enjoy the Infection Echo Morph, but if you’ve already got one then you really do not want to miss this pack because the colors go perfectly together.

Axis Joints and Warp Packs

Using only the Infection Echo Morph, three black Axis Joint sets, and one Warp Pack set (from Callgrim.com) I managed to put together the two action figures shown in the below photo . . . and I had parts leftover. These are not complex builds, but they should give you an idea of what can be done with just a handful of parts. Glyos toys are a lot like LEGO toys in that the more you get the more you can do, but just like LEGO toys it can sometimes be tough to break apart a build that you’re really happy with.

And that’s what leads to buying more Glyos. It’s a vicious cycle, but it’s a really fun cycle.

Closing Thoughts

It’s great to see how the Axis Joints are affecting the way that I think when building Glyos action figures and it’s about time that I get back into the garage and start painting again. The Infection Echo Morph is not a spectacular new design in the toy line — in fact, every piece here has been available before and will be available again — but it’s going to be one of those hard-to-find figures and if response from fans is any indication this is one popular colorway.

Philip Reed admits that this review is again not quite a review but is instead more of an excuse to play with Glyos System toys. But that really isn’t a secret.

  1. Thanks for the review, eagerly awaiting mine! Did you get any of the infection heads?

Oh and Phil, are you working on an official Custom Corps drop? I read through the archive, and it almost seemed like that was the case?

  2. @Seth L – Matt and I have had talks but no real decision as to what is going to happen to the army of customs he’s sitting on. (There will be a release, but it may be online or at a show.) Some of the customs have popped up online, but nowhere near all of the pieces I’ve built/painted.
