Review – Glyos System Red Glyan

Line: Glyos * Manufacturer: Onell Design * Year: 2011

While at NYCC last weekend I managed to snag one of the upcoming Glyos System (Onell Design) Glyans, a new colorway of a figure that I reviewed last month (Glyan review here). This red and maroon Glyan is physically the exact same as the earlier versions of the toy, but this time there’s a little more going on with the paint than we’ve seen before.

The photo above shows one of the three faces and you can see that this time around the mouthpiece/mouthguard section — think of Optimus Prime’s face design — is painted silver. Nice! It’s great to see more paint apps on these toys; more and different colors combined with the tampo printing on the toys is really starting to give them more depth than we’ve seen before and I hope this continues on future releases in the line.

Rather than rattle on about the toy I am pointing you at my earlier Glyan review and suggesting that if you’re unfamiliar with this toy you also check out more reviews and photos at:

“Red” Glyan?

I’m positive that when these toys are released — watch the Glyos Transmission Web Log — this one will have an official name, but since I got mine at the convention I am not at all sure what the official name is for now I’m calling it the Red Glyan. Yeah, that’s not exciting, but it’s what it is. And as you can see in the photos it’s a great colorway and one I suspect will sell out quickly once it’s released.

Closing Thoughts

If you’re already collecting Glyos System toys then I’ve no doubt you’re anxiously awaiting the new launch — which includes not only this toy but also the Big Rig (last mentioned here) — so there’s not much you need me to say.

If you’ve never given the line a shot, though, this new drop will be a great place to give it a try. If you do try these small action figures I suggest grabbing one or two of the newest designs when they drop and then three or four of the Buildman figures (which are cheaper and great for building). That will give you a taste of the toys without eating up too much cash or much of the stress that can be associated with trying to get these limited action figures when they drop.

Philip Reed is trying to nail down an exact release day and time for the next wave and will share as soon as he gets the details.
