Review – Hot Wheels Quicksand

I grabbed this new Hot Wheels toy car a couple of weeks ago for one very simple reason: The colors are awesome! A metallic blue body and those semi-translucent orange plastic tires could not be missed on the pegs, and as soon as I spotted the car it was in my hands and ready for the journey home with me. How is it? Well, it’s a Hot Wheels car that cost me a whole $1.00 after taxes . . . so it’s a great buy and you need one of these if you’re even just a casual Hot Wheels collector. If you’re a kid with a Hot Wheels collection then you need to tell your parents to buy this car today.

Chunky and Sharp

I can think of no two words that better describe the Hot Wheels Quicksand than both “chunky” — because of how big and heavy the toy toy is — and “sharp” — both because it looks sharp and because of the angular lines and weird protrusions over the front and rear wheels. Just what are those things? I don’t know and I don’t care. They look neat. And neat is all I want from my Hot Wheels cars.

Stylish Colors

You know, the colors on Quicksand look like something that would attract my attention when out looking at sneakers. It’s basically two colors — the metallic blue and semi-translucent orange I already mentioned — but then it also has a hint of silver and semi-translucent yellow plastic for the windows and lights. Beautiful! And since almost all of the colors come from the metal and plastic and not paint there aren’t really any messy paint apps to make me sad. And I think the photo below does an excellent job of demonstrating why I’m so very happy with the Quicksand.

Closing Thoughts

Hot Wheels really are about the best toy deals on the market, and this Quicksand design is one that stands out both because of the colors and the sculpt. I know that not everyone collects little toy cars, but if you have a Hot Wheels obsession and don’t have this one then go find it right now. It’s durable, beefy, bright, and a hell of a lot of fun.
