Review – Marvel Hot Wheels A-OK (The Incredible Hulk)
I found this series of Marvel Hot Wheels toy cars a few days ago (store pics posted here) and today I’m sharing the Incredible Hulk A-OK toy car with all of you. As part of the Hot Wheels Real Riders line (Amazon.com search*) the car was just under $5; it may be more expensive than the typical Hot Wheels toy, but anyone who has held a Real Riders car understands that all of that metal and those rubber tires are totally worth the extra expense.
Re-Tooled in 2008
According to the A-OK page at the Hot Wheels Wikia the mold for the A-OK broke in 1983 after just five uses. The South Texas Diecast page for A-OK shows those same original five variants produced between 1978 and 1983, but it fails to show the 2008 and on uses of the re-tooled toy car. Whichever site you look at you can find pics, but it is the the A-OK page at the Hot Wheels Wikia where 2008 and later versions are shown. (As of this writing this exact model isn’t on the page; that’s how new the car is!)
Green and Yellow!
Great colors, the Incredible Hulk A-OK is beautifully-painted and decorated with awesome tampos showing off that original gray Hulk character art from the sixties. I’m not sure what made Mattel go with this classic Hulk artwork, but considering how little there is these days for fans of the gray Hulk I doubt anyone is complaining about the artwork choice. I bet this would look amazing with that Dark Horse Hulk statue* that was released a few years ago.
Closing Thoughts
There really isn’t a lot I need to say about this or any of the Hot Wheels Marvel series (Amazon.com search*) toy cars. Mattel always produces only the best when it comes to their Hot Wheels toys, and the character and brand-driven Hot Wheels Real Riders line (Amazon.com search*) are even more spectacular than the basic $1 cars.
The only complaint I’ve got with this toy car is one that’s all my own fault: I’m out of display space for Hot Wheels cars!!! I really need to grab a new display case soon because I’ve got little cars that need a home. And with the Star Wars Hot Wheels cars on the way I’m soon going to need even more room for cars.
That is a cool little hot rod — the whole design would make a great rockabilly tattoo
@Wolf – Now I wanna see the Hulk with this as a tattoo.
