Review – Real X Head/Onell Design Pheyaos Custom

Line: Glyos * Manufacturer: Onell Design and Real X Head
Year: 2011

At the end of 2011 the latest vinyl toy from Real X Head and Onell Design was released, and I was lucky enough to score this greenish-blueish-green custom Pheyaos painted by Matt Doughty of Onell Design. I may have already reviewed this mold before (first review here, second review here), but this custom turned out too sweet for me to not snap a few quick photos and share them with you.

Shimmering

The paints Matt used to customize this vinyl toy work great. The toy’s got a shimmering, almost iridescent-like finish and as you move it around in the light the blends between the green and blues that cover the body seem to warp and melt into each other. These photos really don’t do the toy justice, but if you expand the shots you can almost get a feel for what the paint looks like. A very nice effect and the paint feels like it’s on there strong and isn’t about to rub off while I pose the toy.

A Great Addition to My Pheyaos Army

I missed out on a few Pheyaos releases, but now I’m up to a total of five of these and this custom has the coolest paintwork of any of the pieces in my collection. I kinda wish I could have also scored the other color that was released when this one was posted, but with how fast they sold out I’m happy that I got at least one of the customs. And word is there will be more Pheyaos releases in 2012 so I’ll have more chances to get little guys for my shelves.

Like the Photos?

I hope so, because with this being the third review I’ve written of Pheyaos there’s not much I can add. If you’re into Real X Head minis then you’ll want to keep your eyes open for the next Pheyaos release or try places like Skullbrain or the the October Toys forum to find an older mini. Fun stuff!

Philip Reed started to count the RXH minis in his collection and stopped himself when he realized that the little monsters seemed to be multiplying.
