Review – Strangeco’s Skeletrino

Designer toy maker Strangeco is no stranger to the bizarre and cute, and little Skeletrino fits perfectly into the company’s catalog. This little kitty with the skull face and single white paw sits patiently in his cardboard prison waiting to be rescued.

Let’s pop the tape and let this itty-bitty kitty out of his box.

Once free of the packaging, Skeletrino is a pretty basic vinyl figure. Almost completely rigid — only his tail moves — Skeletrino is more statue than he is toy; not exactly a surprise to anyone who has encountered a few designer vinyl toys in the past. Skeletrino was designed by Simone Legno, who describes himself on the package as:

“I am an artist from Rome, Italy. TOKIDOKI means “sometimes” in Japanese. I chose a Japanese word because I love Japan. I love everything from the ultra modern happy face of Shibuya to the serious magic silence of Kyoto.”

Okay, that’s enough of that. Still, besides the nonsense rambling of the designer this is a cute toy that will be loved by anyone who enjoys cat statues. (Well, anyone who loves undead cat statues, that is.)
