Review – Super Powers Micro Batman

Gentle Giant’s DC Super Powers Micro Figures (find at Amazon.com*) are incredible, especially if you’re a fan of the eighties Kenner Super Powers action figures. At 2-inches tall, each micro figure is a faithful reproduction of the classic action figures. I spotted Batman and The Joker at a Walgreens and snatched them right up for my collection.

Packaging

Gentle Giant does a great job at creating collector-friendly packaging, and the clamshells that they use for the DC Super Powers Micro Figures (find at Amazon.com*) work perfectly. The package shows off the toys, but once you get everything opened up you quickly discover just how easy it is to return the toys to the packages. Wanna play with your toys and then display them in the package? These clamshells allow you to do exactly that!

How are the toys?

Pretty basic, yes, but they’re fabulous if you’re a Kenner Super Powers fan. The sculpts — crafted by 3d scanning the original toys — are as perfect as we expect from Gentle Giant, and the painted details are clean and without any significant issues. I’ll admit that I wasn’t expecting much because of the small size and low price of the toys, but the work is excellent and the toys — as you can see in the pictures — are definitely worth chasing down.

Closing Thoughts

Gentle Giant’s DC Super Powers Micro Figures (find at Amazon.com*) weren’t something I expected to find at Walgreens, but the $4 price tag was easy to accept and I can report that I am likely to grab more of these if I find them in stores again. This Batman design is a classic, and every single one of us should at the very least have one Super Powers-branded Batman toy on our shelves.

  1. Those look awesome! Do you happen to know how they scale with MASK figures? (Note: There’s really no reason I’d need to know that…just curious…!)
