Review – Transformers K-T Figure Optimus Prime
Line: Transformers * Manufacturer: Takara
One of the cool finds in Hong Kong back in January of this year was a box of five Transformers K-T Figures for less than $20. Blind-boxed Transformers mini-statues, I took two of the boxes to the office to give away as gifts and kept three boxes for myself. Well, since I’m in the process of arranging the living room shelves with toys and statues I decided to pop the boxes open and find out what I got . . . and the first box left me quite happy with this small Optimus Prime bust.
A 2.25-Inch Statue
Coming as five separate pieces, assembling this mini Optimus Prime was simple and without any need for instructions. It took less than a couple of minutes to snap everything together and once I was finished I was happy to sit back and look at the result, which is a micro-bust that’s an awesome deal for roughly $4. A great sculpt, fairly clean paint, and the ability to display Prime with his chest open or closed just leaves me wishing I had bought more of these statues when I was in Hong Kong; the store had another twenty of so boxes and I should have grabbed them all to use as gifts. I can’t see how any Transformers fan would be unhappy receiving one of these as a gift.
Where Did These Come From?
I know these are Takara releases in Japan, but how did such an awesome tiny statue ever come into existence and how did it find its way into a Hong Kong toy shop for less than $4? Well, as always the internet comes through with the details at the TF wiki and I am so happy to have found these when I did because looking at eBay shows me I got a great deal on these. Damn, I hope those other boxes are still sitting in Hong Kong because if I can find that store again I’m gonna buy them all!
Closing Thoughts
If I had paid $8 for this I’d probably be okay with it. $10 would have left me eh. And over $10 would have pissed me off. But for less than $4 this was a steal and I’m happy to have it in my Transformers collection. A nice sculpt, clean paint, and the opening/closing chest makes this a mini statue that is sure to live in my collection for a long time.
And I’m totally opening the other two boxes now.
Philip Reed is going to display this with his Optimus Prime toys. Sure it’s tiny, but it looks great next to the Revoltech Prime.
HAving seen your review, got me to dig up my dusty figures as well. Hehehe.

@updatedude – I want to get my hands on that Devastator. Fingers crossed and hoping I’ll find it . . . and not the creepy girl micro statue.
