Review – Transformers Rescue Bots Cody Burns & Rescue Hose

I always knew that I was mentally about five years old, but I guess it took this new Transformers Rescue Bots series* to prove it to the world. Yep, after looking at the Optimus Prime toy last week (review here), and Prime’s partner Chief Charlie Burns earlier this week (review here), it’s time for another Transformers Rescue Bots review. But this one’s mostly pics, because once you see one human/vehicle pack in this line it kinda looks like you’ve learned everything that you’re ever gonna need to know.

Rescue Hose

Like the Rescue Cutter that came with Chief Charlie Burns, Cody Burns’ Rescue Hose can function as either a vehicle for the human to ride or as a gadget for the Transformer Heatwave (yeah, review coming soon) to use. But unlike the Rescue Cutter this vehicle doesn’t work quite as well. Take a look at the pics and see how Cody can’t really see when he’s driving this thing. It’s not a huge mistake, but it’s a detail I expected Hasbro would have gotten right.

The action feature on the Rescue Hose is a plastic blast of water that spins when you push the yellow lever on top of the vehicle. The Rescue Hose isn’t as much fun as the Rescue Cutter, but that’s probably just because I’m old and not really getting excited about the water spray feature. I suspect kids will love this just as much as the other small vehicles in the line.

Cody Burns

Cody here has the same basic look and articulation as Chief Charlie Burns (review here), so as I said this is gonna be a short review. The ball-hinge joints on the shoulders are great, and I’m hoping Hasbro releases some small hand gadgets for the human characters in the series. But that may not be possible; after all, these toys are designed for young kids so small accessories may not pass safety testing. But regardless of whether or not we get smaller accessories Cody here is every bit as much fun as Charlie . . . and I know I’m gonna be grabbing the Star Wars Playskool Heroes* before too many more weeks pass by.

Closing Thoughts

What can I say? As you can tell I’m enjoying the Transformers Rescue Bots series*, and that’s all we can ever hope from when it comes to toys. I know most adult Transformers fans are probably disgusted that I keep spending time snapping pics and writing about these toys, but for all of you who love fun I say: Try one of the robots!
