Review – Transformers Shattered Glass Cyclonus

Line: Transformers * Manufacturer: Hasbro * Year: 2010

Last fall I found myself with a little extra spending cash so, after some debating with myself, I decided to go a tad insane and grab myself the two re-colored Cyclonus toys — the Transformers Collectors’ Club exclusive Shattered Glass Cyclonus and the Henkei Classics Strafe (review here). It has taken some time, but this evening I’m finally getting this short review of the Shattered Glass Cyclonus up for everyone. The extremely brief summary for those of you in a rush is: Do not buy this unless you love the Transformers Universe Cyclonus action figure (review here) and are a fan of collecting variants of a single design.

Packaging

At a cost of $75 I was quite happy to see that Shattered Glass Cyclonus was packed in a bright, attractive, and durable box. Seriously, this box looks fantastic and I need to find a good way to display it along with my growing army of Cyclonus toys. For a better look at the great box artwork see this page at Deviant Art where Dan the Artguy shows off his work.

The Exact Same Toy

As you already know this is the same toy we’ve already looked at twice (Cyclonus review here, Strafe review here) so I’ve pretty much said everything about this toy that I need to. It really is a great design so if you’re a Transformers fan and don’t have a Cyclonus then you should track down one, but this is not the toy to be your first Cyclonus. It’s just too expensive to be a casual addition to a collection.

So Let’s Just Stare at the Pics

Sorry, guys, but I have nothing exciting or insightful to say about the Shattered Glass Cyclonus toy. So I’ll suggest that you look at the photos I’ve posted here and then, if you want more, visit this post at Transforming Seminarian for another look at the toy.

Enjoy the shots of Shattered Glass Cyclonus! Looks like once my translucent purple Cyclonus arrives (mentioned here) the best I’ll be able to do for a review is several photos of the toy. But that’s okay, because between this review and the two earlier reviews (Cyclonus review here, Strafe review here) I think there’s probably enough information here at battlegrip.com to give anyone a good idea of whether or not they would like to own one of these toys.

Philip Reed is looking forward to ordering this year’s Transformers Collectors’ Club Ramjet; it’s sure to cost him less than he paid for this Shattered Glass Cyclonus.

  1. Wow, I’m…kind of shocked that you paid so much for this toy. Is he the same as the one from the two-pack with Rodimus?

  2. @Reverend Ender – Yes, this is the exact same mold as used in that two-pack. The only difference is the packaging and the colors of plastic and paint.

The Strafe I reviewed before (mentioned in the review) is also the same basic toy in different colors. That one was initially over $100 but I waited until the price dropped to $50.

  3. Sorry, cat on the keyboard.

As I was saying, love this deco, and he was originally $44 plus shipping from the club. Their runs are usually in the low thousands (1500?).
