This makes the sixth of the Transformers: Titans Return toys that I’ve reviewed so far. If you’ve not yet read my earlier reviews of the line, please check those out before continuing on:

You’re back? Awesome, let’s take a look at the Transformers: Titans Return Crashbash* toy.

Modern Headmasters

Last year, Hasbro gave us the combining robot gimmick in the Combiner Wars series. Today, thanks to the wonders of retail merchandising and marketing, we get the return of the Headmasters in the Transformers: Titans Return toyline (find at Amazon.com*). And best of all, the team at Hasbro has done a fantastic job of making these new toys far more playable than some of the Transformers releases seen in the last five or six years.

Above, the official Hasbro promotional image shows Crashbash in his four modes: Dragon, dinosaur, robot, and head for bigger robots. Man, these little Titan Master toys are fantastic! And out of the four that I’ve reviewed so far, Crashbash is the best!

Dragon Mode

Above, we see the Transformers: Titans Return Crashbash* toy in its dragon mode. In this form, the vehicle segment of the toy acts as a beast that the Crashbash robot can ride. The dragon is cool and all, but it is the next mode that makes this toy my favorite of the little Titan Masters that I’ve opened up to today.

Dinosaur Mode

Look at that little guy! Crashbash* makes for a fantastic little dinosaur, and the way Hasbro incorporated the small robot into the dinosaur body is wonderful. You see, the dinosaur’s tiny arms are the robot’s arms while the lower jaw is the robot’s legs. The dragon mode wings fold up to hold the robot in place for dinosaur mode. Genius!

Robot Mode

Up last, Crashbash* in his little robot mode. He stands the same height as the other Titan Master robots — just under 1.5-inches tall — and features the same simple articulation as the others I’ve reviewed so far. Still, there’s just something adorable and fun about these little guys that makes me smile. I swear, this time around it feels like Hasbro really did recognize that they were making toys and tried to make these as toyetic as possible.

Closing Thoughts

The entire Transformers: Titans Return toyline (find at Amazon.com*) is wonderful and fun, and Crashbash is a great addition to any Transformers collection. If you’ve not yet bought any of these toys then buy one today . . . and so far, any of the ones I’ve reviewed would be a remarkable “first Titans Return” toy.

Thanks, Hasbro, for remembering that toys are supposed to be fun and playable. This series is amazing!

  1. Crashbash is fantastic — he’s my favourite Titan Master so far. And there’s a repaint in Grimlock colours out now too!
