Review – Transformers: Titans Return Fangry

Hasbro’s Transformers: Titans Return toyline (find at Amazon.com*) has been, as I keep saying, the best official Transformers line in a long time. And my favorite of the bunch has to be the little Titan Master packs. I know it is weird to get robot heads without bodies, but these small robot and vehicle/weapon packs are such a great value and so fun that I just keep grabbing the sets.

Inspired by the Past

As with the other Transformers: Titans Return toys (find at Amazon.com*), the new Titans Return Fangry* design is based off of an earlier Transformers toy. Based on the 1988 toy of the same name, the beast mode is a bat-winged wolf that makes no sense . . . and we don’t care, since the toy looks so damn incredible.

Something New

Surprisingly, the toy also has a second beast mode, and this time the Titans Return Fangry* toy ignores the past and goes for something new. That dragon mode with the small robot riding inside isn’t nearly as fun as the bat-winged wolf, but at least Hasbro tried something and the toy is a bit more playable than without that alt mode. I’ll keep the toy in the other form, but if I were five I would very likely be torn on which mode is best. After all, the dragon mode lets us see the small robot!

Previous Reviews

The Titans Return Fangry* is one of the best of the line, with a great monster mode that is similar in design to the 1988 Headmaster of the same name. The toy isn’t alone, though, so please take a look at my other Titans Return reviews and then rush out and buy some of these toys before Hasbro switches gimmicks and we lose these toys at retail.
