Review – Transformers: Titans Return Titan Master Brawn
By now, my reviews of the Transformers: Titans Return toyline (find at Amazon.com*) should have convinced you to buy at least one of the toys in this series. I cannot stress enough how incredible these toys are, and if you are completely new to the line, let’s start by first asking that you read a few of my earlier reviews.
- Transformers: Titans Return Nightbeat
- Transformers: Titans Return Loudmouth
- Transformers: Titans Return Hardhead
- Transformers: Titans Return Terri-Bull
- Transformers: Titans Return Powermaster Optimus Prime
- Transformers: Titans Return Crashbash
- Transformers: Titans Return Scourge
- Transformers: Titans Return Hot Rod
- Takara Transformers Head-Master Set
- Transformers: Titans Return Fangry
- Transformers: Titans Return Blurr
All caught up? Awesome. Now we can jump into this Titan Master Brawn*, another one of the small robots Hasbro has released under the Titans Return umbrella.
Sled Mode
A flying sled or jetbike, Titan Master Brawn* can hover through the skies on this unusual contraption that is totally an official mode of the small robot’s vehicle. Some of these small accessories work better than others, and I am going to list this alt mode as one of the weakest that we have seen in the entire Transformers: Titans Return toyline (find at Amazon.com*). Fortunately, the treaded truck mode is way better.
Truck Mode
Headlights. Grill. Green. You transform the vehicle accessory into this treaded truck mode by folding the two ends of the sled mode and then transforming the small Titan Master Brawn* into head mode and plugging the robot into the vehicle. This is reminiscent of the original Brawn toy from 1984, so of course this is my favorite mode and the one I’ll have on display in a shelf here at home.
Limited Paint Apps
The one issue I have with Hasbro’s Transformers: Titans Return toys (find at Amazon.com*) is the limited paint apps they use on the small robots. There’s a lot more detail than you can see in the pics, and even just a few more paint apps would make those details pop and work way better. Need proof? Well, compare the U.S. Titan Master Brawn* to the Brawn head that was packed in Takara’s Head-Master Set (review here) and you can instantly tell what some paint does for the robot sculpt. Come on, Hasbro, and throw a few more cents at paint on these little toys!
Closing Thoughts
You may wonder just how many small robots Hasbro can create for the Transformers: Titans Return toys (find at Amazon.com*), but that is probably the wrong question to ask. Instead, I ask: Is the line selling well enough that Hasbro will keep the gimmick going? I sure hope so, because these are absolutely Hasbro’s most playable Transformers in years. Keep ’em coming, Hasbro!
