Review – World War Robot Dutch Merc Bertie
And seven bots later we hit the end of the Berties with Dutch Merc. Armed with a cannon and the ammo backpack, Dutch Merc is physically identical to Marine Bertie (review here, Desert Combat Bertie (review here, and Deep Powder Bertie (review here). That means we’ve really already seen this toy, so again the photos are going to carry the bulk of this review.
Broken Bot
Unfortunately, Dutch Merc came out of the box with a broken finger. The finger was in the box, it just wasn’t attached to the bot’s hand. I’ve been told that I can ship the arm back to 3A and they’ll repair it, so that’s exactly what’s going to happen. I’ll let you guys know when Dutch Merc’s arm arrives.
Another Great Paint Job
A combination of beautiful paint and attractive decals make this one of the color schemes that stand from the others in the pack. The Dutch Merc, as is pointed out in the review at CollectionDX, features:
” . . . a patchwork finish and traditional Dutch heraldry. The unique and detailed decals, as well as the multicolored finish make this guy stand out on the shelf.”
Even With a Busted Finger He Looks Cool
Once you arm this guy with his cannon it’s hard to spot the break. It’s only when he isn’t carrying his gun, like in the photo above, that the broken finger is obvious. It’s frustrating that the robot arrived broken, but hopefully the replacement arm won’t take long to reach me. And at least the break wasn’t so terrible that I couldn’t snap some cool photos of the toy.
The Last Bertie Bot
This is it, guys, the last of the World War Robot* Bertie toys. That means I only have the Squares left to review . . . but that review will have to come after Robots and Mecha Week! since it’s time for us to return to the randomness that you’ve grown to expect from battlegrip.com. Thanks for sticking around over the last week as I looked at seven nearly-identical toys, and starting this next week we’ll get some variety back at the site.
Don’t Miss the Other Berties
The seven Berties in the box are Dirty Deeds Bloody Edition Bertie, Deep Powder Bertie, Medic Bertie, Desert Combat Bertie, Marine Bertie, Warbot Bertie, and this Dutch Merc Bertie. And you shouldn’t miss the master review since that’s where the bulk of the detailed information about the reviews is hiding.

Philip Reed is now going to relax and try not to think about all of the Square photos he has to clean up before he can officially call this series of reviews completed.
Thanks for these reviews. I only got a couple of the single packed ones preordered but man am I excited. BTW, I’ve been reading your work on here off and on for a while now. I was linked from AD. You have excellent pictures and the mix of news and reviews is very well done, so thanks for that, too.
And the link for the WWR book at Amazon, so totally bought that 😉
@Wesitron – Thanks, man. I try to pack as much variety and fun into the site as I can, but sometimes my focus shifts and I overload on one type of thing.
