Robocop. Predator. Greatest newspaper advertisement ever?

Out of the July 24, 1987 issue of the Gainesville Sun newspaper comes this ad for both Robocop and Predator. Wait. What? Were Robocop and Predator really both in the theater at the exact same time?

A quick search shows Predator was released on June 12 while Robocop was released on July 17. Wow, how did I ever forget that these movies were from the exact same summer? 1987 was awesome! Too bad Hollywood is more wrapped up in remakes and sequels than original films these days; it’s unlikely we’re ever going to get such an incredible release of two brand new films that develop into properties these days.

But in 1987? Well, you could go to the 2:15 showing of Predator and then move right on to the 5:30 showing of Robocop. How awesome would that day have been, kids?

    1. @PrfktTear – Makes me wish a theater would do just that in a few years. Celebrate 30 years of Robocop and Predator with a double feature showing!
