“Sam Has a New Problem”
As I mentioned earlier this year, Milton Bradley’s Operation game (Amazon.com search*) is fifty years old this year! I’m still a little surprised that Hasbro didn’t do anything to mark the game’s birthday, but at least they’ve also managed to keep the game in mass stores . . . which is more than G.I. Joe got for it’s 50th birthday.
Actually, the last time Hasbro has done anything big and new with the Operation game was way back in 2005 when they added “Brain Freeze” to the game. The news was big enough at the time that an issue of Boys’ Life magazine even gave us a fun peek at the game. It’s a tiny bit of news, but it’s more than we’ve seen for the game’s 50th anniversary. Happy fifty years, Operation! Now let’s see what happens for the next fifty.
