Sasquatch Game Studio Plans Alternity RPG
The late nineties roleplaying game from TSR/Wizards of the Coast, Alternity (find at Amazon.com*) is reportedly returning. Well, the name is returning. After that things gets a little complicated.
Much like the Battle Beasts return of a few years ago (trademark chatter here), what’s happening is that Sasquatch Game Studio has filed for the Alternity trademark — USPTO filing here — and not that the company is bringing back the original Alternity roleplaying game. At their site they write:
Do you guys have the necessary rights to make this game?
We do, but it’s worth a bit of explanation about what those rights are. Sasquatch Game Studio is registering a trademark to the Alternity game (the old trademark has been abandoned for many years). Any copyrighted material associated with the 1990s version of the game still belongs to the previous publisher.
Surprisingly, it looks like Wizards of the Coast isn’t offering the old Alternity roleplaying game products in PDF form. An administrative oversight, or is there something more going on with the rights to the game?

The classic Alternity was great. If they can get any of the resources from the game (or any of the creators), they could create something pretty awesome.
@Nick Ahlhelm – At least one of the original designers is involved in the new game.
