November 18, 1984. This Sears ad block comes from the Los Angeles Times and features some of the coolest of the original Transformers toys, the Decepticon Cassettes! As a kid, I only had a handful of the cassettes and never owned the complete set, but they were still some of the greatest designs of the 1984 line and the integration with Soundwave is as fantastic an idea today as it was way back when this ad was first published.
