Sears Exclusive Cloud City Playset at Lionel Playworld in 1981
There are great pics and information on the Kenner Cloud City playset in both The Ultimate Guide to Vintage Star Wars Action Figures, 1977-1985* and Picker’s Pocket Guide*, but as of discovering this 1981 newspaper ad I no longer know what to think about the “Sears Exclusive” nature of the playset. For as long as I’ve known of this playset (when I first saw it in the Sears catalog decades ago) this has been an exclusive item at Sears. Appears to be Sears was selling off overstock to Playworld; funny how it takes years for me to learn the weird stuff like this.
