“Select Minibots Special” in 1984
We’ve seen Select’s cheap transforming robot toys before. Over the years I’ve posted reviews of a handful of their robot toys of the eighties:
- Convertors Maladroid Volcan
- Convertors Neptune
- Convertors Mini Bot, Sports
- Convertors Mini Bot Wagon
- Convertors Maladroid Meeshak
Well, today we get a special Select treat in the form of an old newspaper advertisement. This small ad from the Reading Eagle, dated October 31 of 1984, shows us the Select robots on sale. I hadn’t realized they were so pricey next to Transformers minibots; I’m betting it was the metal used in the toys that drove the price up a bit. Anyway, price doesn’t matter since this ad’s over three decades old and Convertors cost more than $4 these days.
