“Size Matters Not”
“Sales this year are way up because of the incredibly successful reissue of the Star Wars movies. Interestingly, Galoob may deserve some of the credit.”
—Fortune Magazine, “Who Gets What in the Star Wars Toy Deal,” 1997
Topps’ Star Wars Galaxy magazine (Amazon.com search*) is a hell of a lot of fun to flip through these days. Produced in the mid-nineties — that time when Star Wars was coming back from a dark time — the magazine issues are loaded with fun articles, ads, and even the letters pages can be a blast to read.
This article from issue #9 features Galoob’s Star Wars toys (Amazon.com search*) of the time and even goes a little behind the scenes for us. Unfortunately for Galoob, it wasn’t even two full years after this article ran that Hasbro announced they were buying Galoob (see Wikipedia). Gotta keep all of those Star Wars toys under one roof, kids.
