Spiral Zone Rimfire Cannon Pics
I’ve mentioned the Spiral Zone Rimfire Cannon before (commercial posted here), and I still don’t own any of Tonka’s 1987 Spiral Zone toys. That feels wrong, don’t you agree? Anyway, as I was going through folders I ran across these two pics of the Rimfire Cannon packaging.
I saved these from an eBay auction a few years ago, and between this and Tonka’s Steel Warriors it is clear that the company was trying hard to get into the “boys action figure category” in 1986 and 1987. Spiral Zone has some amazing toy designs, and looking over these two photos reminds me that I should start trying to track down at least a few of the toys before the prices climb higher than they are today.

I actually owned this vehicle for a while as a kid. I got it used from a yard sale (the people may have given it to me) and it was missing most parts. It was years and years before I ever realized what it was.
@Barbecue17 – I caught the Spiral Zone cartoon when it first aired. The time was horrible — it was like 5:30am or something — and I am sure that didn’t help the line at retail.
This is one of the Spiral Zone toys my family didn’t own as my brother was a massive fan of the show. I remember liking it a lot but being really creeped out by it at 8 or so. I still have a lot of them, but it’s definitely a line I’d like to put a bigger collection together for, especially the Black Widows.
