Spotted Online – 1975 Pre-Micronauts Japanese Toy Advertisement

This ToyboxDX Facebook post is for all of the Micronauts fans in the audience who love the Japanese toys that led to Mego’s toyline. At the far right of the ad you’ll see the taller red, white, and blue robot that is Perfect Effect’s inspiration for their upcoming Robot V2 toy (first mentioned here).

My knowledge of these pre-Micronauts/pre-Transformers toys is quite limited. I own a copy of the Unofficial Guide to Japanese and International Transformers* and the Transformers Vault*, but those books don’t go deep enough into the history of the line to really educate me. Hey, world, bring me a book on the seventies pre-Micronauts toys!

  1. My god, these toys are gorgeous! I wish that the modern interpretations could bring back all that glorious clear plastic paired with heaps of vac metal. It’s all just beautiful candy!!!
