Spotted Online – 1984 Kenner Super Powers Ad
Time for another blast of fun from the eighties, this time in the form of DC Super Powers comics ads at Dork Dimension. These types of posts can be dangerous, since they send several of us off to eBay at once to drool on the ancient toys that we should have bought when they were new.
And it’s not just an ad over at Dork Dimension this time around. Nope, hit the site and you can watch the opening credits to the Super Powers-era version of the Super Friends show. This opening sequence makes me think I’ll be happier off it I continue to ignore the Super Friends DVDs*.
The best part of the comic ad for the figures has to be that Superman is an action figure while Lex Luthor is an illustration. That’s right, guys. Superman is so damned super that he can attack villains regardless of their relative position to reality. Either that, or the ad department thought they were being clever.
