Spotted Online – Battle Beasts Run Amuck Duck Review at 16Bit
As the Diamond Select Toys and Takara Battle Beasts series grow closer and closer to hitting store shelves, the number of posts and reviews about the classic eighties Battle Beasts toys continues to grow. I’ve posted three reviews of my own over the last few months — Battle Beasts Killer Carp review here, Battle Beasts War Weasel review here, Battle Beasts Ferocious Tiger review here — and now you can get a peek at another one of the toys in this Run Amuck Duck review at 16bit.com.
Maybe I’m just an old cranky jerk, but Run Amuck Duck here is from the family of Battle Beasts toys that I do not want. Seriously, just look at it! It’s like someone took a rubber ducky and tried to make an armored warrior out of it. Now I can enjoy the ridiculously stupid from time to time, but Run Amuck Duck here went past even my lines when it entered the realm of ludicrously insane. If it had some sort of aquatic beast head I could get excited, but I just cannot get past that rubber duck-like design.
And it’s Run Amuck Duck here that, ultimately, I think is why the original run of Battle Beasts didn’t have a major success back in the eighties. I think there’s just too many people like me who looked at their really goofy designs like this one and just said “No.” Hopefully the new Diamond Select Toys and Takara Battle Beasts will avoid some of the especially silly animal designs.
