Spotted Online – Ben Mininberg’s Customized Armored Trooper Votoms “Berlin Brigade” Model
Okay, I’ve always loved the look of the Armored Trooper Votoms series*, but the closest I’ve ever been to the series is the old Armored Trooper Votoms roleplaying game that was published by R. Talsorian Games over a decade ago. I’m not sure why I’ve never gotten deeper into the series — lack of time for everything, I guess — but it doesn’t matter because I get to enjoy stuff like these photos of Ben Mininberg’s customized model.
Ben posted several photos at his site and even goes into a short discussion of how he created this work of art. It looks fantastic, and must have taken many hours, so the least I can do is sit back and drool on the photos for a while. These are really inspiring shots, making me want to get a lot better at my own attempts at customizing.
“The Wave 1/24 VOTOMS kits are some seriously venerable pieces of plastic, reissued throughout the years with some occasional improvements. Out of the box, they are decently posable and have a bit chubby proportions, but are easy to build and can be vastly improved with a little TLC.”
Well, Ben, I’ve gotta say that it looks like you put a hell of a lot of TLC into this piece. Great job!
