Spotted Online – Black Plastic Photos at He-Man.org
This thread at he-man.org is specifically for collecting photos of recent Masters of the Universe Classics action figures that are suffering paint wear and revealing the black plastic beneath the paint. My first thought when this subject came up was to side with Mattel — I am betting they save quite a bit on machine time and saftey testing by using one color of plastic for several figures — but after seeing some of the pics I can see why fans were complaining about this change in manufacturing.
Some of the blemishes aren’t really all that bad, but there are enough really nasty instances of paint wear that I think I was wrong and Mattel really should be using appropriate plastic colors for the toy base. I now wonder if we can expect another price increase in the line as Mattel tries to switch away from black plastic parts; they had to be saving some money when they made the change or else why make the change in the first place?
