Spotted Online – BotCon Exclusive Transformers Rainmakers Set
There are more than just the Rainmakers posted at TFW2005, but it’s that set of three new Transformers Seekers that stands out to me as the figures I want from the show. I’ve checked eBay, but in my opinion the prices asked under “Buy it Now” are way too high and I fully expect those prices to drop.
If anyone is attending BotCon this weekend and can score a set for me I’m quite happy to PayPal over the monies to make it happen. If not then I’ll just keep watching online and try to grab these when the prices settle down a bit.
I’ve reviewed the Transformers Classics “Seeker” mold before. Check each review for pics and thoughts on why I enjoy this particular mold.

Godammit, Botcon did it again! They sent fandom into an uproar a few years back when they made a Classics seekers set of Dirge, Thundercracker and Thrust. And now Sunstorm, a character in high demand, is a limited exclusive. Thankfully, Takara and Hasbro eventually released retail versions of the other three. Hope that happens for Sunstorm someday.
There is crap in retail and they’re making instant aftermarket with figures people obviously want. Hasbro should let fun pub run starwars too. No one would ever see those packs of stormtroopers, clone troopers, or fighter pilots in retail again. They would never leave the west coast and broadcast themselves tastefully. “I only ordered one this year! ME ME ME! I quit over a year ago. Turning grey while watching the next logical part of a hobby get squandered to instant after market hype is much more lame than it sounds. I know some people count on the exclusives to pay for next botcon but holy eff everyone else.
Big Bad Toy Store is selling the “Rainmakers” (I call them the “Welcoming Committee since that’s what Wheeljack names them in the G1 cartoon) for $144.99 which I think is a decent price, better than the +$200 on ebay they’ve been going for.
They also have the other show exclusives listed for preorder.
@Al Lew – Thanks for the tip, but I was too slow. TFSource also sold out of theirs. I knew these were gonna go fast, but I never imagined they would go quite this fast.
It’s starting to look like I was wrong and prices will not drop on this particular set.
