Spotted Online – Cate Gardner’s “Nowhere Hall” Teaser
Author Cate Gardner’s (website, Twitter) upcoming chapbook, Nowhere Hall (which is still available in her contest), may already be sold out but that doesn’t stop the publisher from posting teasers.
Sold out? Yep, Spectral Press (blog, Twitter) is doing so well with their chapbook series that even the unreleased books are no longer available. I’ve got myself a subscription, but my first book isn’t until December so unless I get lucky and win the contest I’m gonna miss Nowhere Hall.
If you’re unfamiliar with Cate’s work then I recommend trying Strange Men in Pinstripe Suits & Other Curious Things*, a collection of bizarre short fiction. This is a great read for anyone who loves odd stories; at times I thought of the Baum work, American Fairy Tales*, but they’re really not an exact match.
What? You don’t know about American Fairy Tales? Well then see the Wikipedia entry and then read the stories at Project Gutenberg. In my opinion this is a far better work than Baum’s Wizard of Oz (though that is also fun).
