Spotted Online – DC and Mattel License Extended

I spotted this article at Toy News Online last week and expected to see the news reported at Action Figure Pics, Articulated Discussion, or Action Figure Insider. After all, I rarely even discuss DC Universe Classics so it’s not the sort of news I felt compelled to immediately share. Well, it’s time I take a few seconds to throw this up for everyone.

“Under the terms of the deal, Mattel will be granted “unprecedented access” to DC’s archive of characters and produce a line of products to tie in with next summer’s Green Lantern movie.

“The sheer volume of the DC Comics property portfolio lends itself to an incredible array of consumer offerings,” Brad Globe, president of Warner Bros Consumer Products commented.”

Maybe I just missed a post at one of the other toy sites, but I figured this is exactly the bit of news fans of DC Universe Classic — and DC toys in general — would want to know about. I wonder if this will have any affect on the DC Direct line; will the Mattel toys start to delve into the obscure stuff that DC Direct thrives on, or will they tackle completely different areas of the universe?
