Spotted Online – “Even Barbie Can Be Hacked”
It’s a sick, twisted world when hackers are using Barbie to hack into wi-fi networks. Seriously, world, leave the toys alone and let kids enjoy their lives. It turns out that Mattel’s Hello Barbie Doll* is susceptible to hackers getting into the wi-fi system, providing them access to “system information, Wi-Fi network names, its internal MAC address, account IDs, and MP3 files.”
Fast Company has the story, and as technology and toys blur together more and more we’ll have to hope that toymakers learn to protect their playthings from malicious hackers who don’t have enough adult in them to leave kids out of the stupidness of the world.
