Spotted Online – Fansproject’s Function-X1: Code Review at Rabbit Haul

I shared the Transforming Collections page for Fansproject’s unofficial Transformers Chromedome earlier this month (posted here), but for more pics and a full review of the toy see the Rabbit Haul’s review. I know Code has gotten some complaints, but in my opinion it’s one of Fansproject’s better designs because:

  • The transformation is inventive. The way the chest slides down is truly impressive.
  • The transformation isn’t frustrating. I don’t find myself swearing to never transform the toy again when I play with it.

  1. I don’t have this toy, but my guess is that those who don’t like it are viewing it as a standalone as opposed to a 3rd party redo. Personally, i don’t like the color scheme at all, but being that the original had the same color scheme, I can’t be mad at it. In fact, compared to the original, this looks 100 times better. Much more sleek, incredible articulation, and (as you said) a very innovative transformation. Plus, it’s completely kibble-free! that’s awesome! So compared to the original, it wins on almost every level. On its own, though, I can see if people think he’s kind of ugly.

  2. @Paul – See, to me this is one of Fansproject’s best designs. It’s a great update to a classic G1 character, the transformation process doesn’t make me want to swear off Transformers toys for life, and the poseability is excellent as is the plastic quality.
