Spotted Online – “G.I. Joe is dead, long live G.I. Joe”

There’s a new editorial at Toy News International that some of you may find entertaining. Titled “Editorial – G.I. Joe is dead, long live G.I. Joe”, The article discusses the future of Hasbro’s G.I. Joe property, speculating that the line needs a video game and animated series to get back on track and once again onto store shelves.

I’m not so sure if Hasbro is even considering putting energy into the G.I. Joe brand in the forseeable future. With major retailers dropping the line and Hasbro opening the brand to Amazon’s “Kindle Worlds” program (last mentioned here) what evidence is there that Hasbro is planning to do more with G.I. Joe?

At the moment I think the best thing fans of G.I. Joe can do is keep reading the IDW comics, investigate new lines such as Acid Rain (last mentioned here) and the Marauder Kickstarter project, and support the official G.I. Joe club.

Oh, yeah. And be patient . . . Hasbro has to return to the brand one of these days.
