Spotted Online – G.I. Joe: Sigma 6 (Windfire) Cobra Commander Pics at Cool Toy Review

Probably about right now you’re praying that when the G.I. Joe: Sigma 6 toys (Amazon.com search*) reach me I hate them and never again mention the line. Sorry, but I’ve been spending far too much time exploring this line of toys and I’m more impressed with each piece of the series I look at. Why didn’t someone out there find me in 2005 and slap me with a few of the figures from this line?

When we look at the cost of action figures today it makes toys like the (Windfire) Cobra Commanderphoto archive at Cool Toy Review — look like a steal. $15 for an 8-inch scale action figure and a small vehicle? That’s crazy! And crazy awesome! The chariot now has me thinking it’s time to search for a Sigma 6 Serpentor custom, because there’s no way someone hasn’t tackled that idea long before now.

  1. I, for one, would like to see more Sigma 6 on your blog. I thought that they looked neat way back in 2005 (and they were done by the Xevoz guys!), but I passed on them except for a lone Sky Bat.

  2. If memory serves, Mysterious Stranger created a Serpentor custom back in the heyday of Sigma 6.

It may still be arguably the greatest G.I. Joe series ever.

  3. @Hedrock – I’ll put together and post the list. I haven’t posted anything like “I ordered these toys and can’t wait!” in a long time.

  4. I love the Sigma 6 line. I discovered it sometime in 2007 as the line was dying. I was able to get a great many of them for inexpensive prices, and even managed to get one of the super rare, possibly unreleased figures for a reasonable price.

I have a nearly complete collection of the 8″ figures, unfortunately, due to lack of space I have been contemplating selling off a good number of them, since I don’t even have a third of them on display right now.

But the sheer number of accessories was always a big turn on for me. If you haven’t yet been tempted by Lt Stone or the original Long Shot, those are definitely two of the best figures, but nearly all of them are outstanding, just on accessory count alone.

  5. @ryanlb – Sorry to hear you’re thinking of letting these go. I’ll vulture a little and ask that you use the contact link, above, and chat with me if you decide to sell you collection.

  6. I was able to get several of these figures just before the series ended (Including the Cobra Commander) I’m kicking myself for not buying more of them earlier. The prices/values on them seem to keep climbing. I haven’t opened my Cobra Commander yet, so glad to see the review.
