Spotted Online – Interview with Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen at Tor.com
It was just last week that I even heard of the Descender comic book by Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen. A sci-fi story about a robotic boy, the overall storyline — and the artwork — are grabbing me tight enough that I’ve tracked down issues two through five (and should have issue one later this week). I rarely buy single comics these days, so that should give you an idea of how interested I am in the story.
Part of what caught my eye — other than the concept and artwork — was this interview at tor.com with the book creators, Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen. Check out the interview, and you can be sure that I’ll write more about this if reading the comics leaves me excited about the series.
Amidst the bustle of the convention floor at SDCC, I sat down with writer Jeff Lemire and artist Dustin Nguyen to talk about the place of artificial intelligence stories in the current zeitgeist, their collaborative process, and where Tim-21, his faithful robot dog, and homicidal friend and protector Driller would be going next.
