Spotted Online – Mad Max: Fury Road at Variety

I mentioned yesterday how much I enjoyed Mad Max: Fury Road, and one of the reasons I found the film so very enjoyable was that despite all of the quick cuts between shots I could still follow the movement and action. Well, this excellent Variety article touches on that feature of the film:

“Miller would literally look at scenes backward and forward, insisting that each new shot bring with it some new information that the audience didn’t already have, and that the viewer’s eye be able to track the action easily from one cut to the next.”

The Variety article, written by Scott Foundas, is fantastic. Deep. Immersive. Exhaustive. These words almost completely describe the article’s quality, and the article is definitely worth taking the time to read if you have seen Mad Max: Fury Road and want to know more about the nightmare of bringing the film from ideas to theaters.
