Spotted Online – Matty Collector Customer Support Sucks and Blows
See this post at Poe’s site for an update on his headaches with Mattel’s Matty Collector website. Bad customer service always sucks, but this story is particularly troubling since Matty Collector’s decision to take the defective toy and not replace it feels like the first step to telling fans “Hey, you either keep the broken one or don’t get one at all.”
Matty Collector treated me pretty well last year when I had problems (defective Skeletor post here), but if my Wind Raider — which was delayed because of Demo-Man problems (mentioned here) — comes in defective it sounds as if that’s just my problem.
Amazing. I hope Poe gets this cleared up. And Matty Collector, please think through your QC and customer service problems and find a solution. Soon.
Mattel won’t ever change their customer service. It’s like a crack head complaining about their corner pusher. Who you gonna go to to get your fix?
Mattel’s customers are too hooked on the product to ever put enough ‘real’ pressure on them to elicit actual change.
Even Poe says “Bear in mind, had I known this was how it would turn out, I might have kept the gun-less one in the first place.”
He would have chosen to keep a defective product over not owning the product at all. That’s how bad Mattel has these guys by the gonads.
I’ve been saying for years that we need to vote with our feet and tell them to f**k off. Give your hard-earned money to the companies who earn it, like Hot Toys and Triad Toys.
