Spotted Online – Poe Ghostal’s Articulation Manifesto
Adult action figure collectors must take a look at Poe Ghostal’s Super-Articulation Manifesto, Poe’s carefully considered and examined guide to required joints for great 6-inch to 8-inch scale action figures. I don’t feel these joints are all required for toys kids will play with, but I’m 100% behind Poe on his articulation choices when it comes to toys that adults will pose, photograph, and basically use as collectibles.
Action figure manufacturers who pride themselves on creating “adult collectibles” absolutely have to study this. I know that following Poe’s guide will increase costs, but maybe the answer is for one of the toy manufactures to give a site like Kickstarter a shot and give fans the chance to “buy” increased points of articulation. What would happen if Hasbro, for example, offered a Spider-Man on Kickstarter and stretch goals unlocked more and more points of articulation? Would there be enough demand and money raised to cover all of Poe’s required joints?
