Spotted Online – Popular Mechanics and the Star Wars RPG
Fantasy Flight Games’ series of Star Wars roleplaying games (Amazon.com search*) is the focus of a new popularmechanics.com post, helping the game to reach an entirely new audience.
The article’s quite enjoyable, but unfortunately it either missed or ignores everything that has come before. In the post, the author writes:
“Many of us grew up orchestrating huge, complex Star Wars adventures with our Kenner action figures. We swung wiffleball bats wildly, making the “whuam, whuam” lightsaber sound as we traipsed through our parents’ gardens. We debated endlessly about whether Luke Skywalker would ever “go evil.” So it should come as no surprise the new Star Wars Roleplaying Game by Fantasy Flight Games is pretty close to a dream come true.”
Yeah, this definitely makes it sound as if the earlier roleplaying games — almost thirty years since the release of West End Games’ first Star Wars RPG — were completely missed. Well, we’ll just look on the bright side and hope that the article leads a few people to Fantasy Flight Games’ Star Wars roleplaying games (Amazon.com search*).
