Spotted Online – Starriors Transfer Rings at CollectionDX
One of the problems with posting random stuff like the Starriors commercial a few days ago is that you soon find yourself exploring strange things. Example!!!! Did you know there were cheap toy rings for the Tomy Starriors line of the eighties? I sure as hell didn’t know these existed, at least not until I ran across Josh’s ring review at CollectionDX.
Seriously, Tomy, you actually made and sold these to kids? I’m impressed! By taking Starriors toy robot heads and attaching them to plastic rings the company managed to create some very inexpensive — and extremely silly — toys for a lower price point. Adding in a story reason for the existence of the rings just makes the entire situation far more fun and leaves me to believe the designers were brilliant. Hey, kids, wanna play with robot heads?
