Spotted Online – The Art of Red Sonja
The Art Of Red Sonja* was released last month, and this morning while exploring the web I ran across this photo review at Parka Blogs. Red Sonja is one of those characters I’ve never encountered a lot, but my understanding is that I would likely enjoy the stories if I ever gave them a shot.
Unfortunately, this particular review takes a different approach than I’m used to seeing at the site. (Honestly, this one’s not actually a review but is really just re-posted pics and info.) Typically, the book reviews are packed with photos of spreads and some details, but this time it looks like we get publisher-supplied captures of individual pages. And what is most distressing is that the review makes it look like there’s actually very little art in the book; but the opening statement makes it clear that that isn’t the case:
The following images are probably not truly representational because they are only from the first few pages of the 208-page book.
What I see here isn’t enough to get me to order the book online, but it is enough that I hope to get a close look at the book in a store. There is likely a lot more art in the book than we see here, and I do want to read the book’s introduction because the few sections I scanned online look entertaining and educational.
