Spotted Online – Transformers Insecticons Clone Army
They’re red, black, and even have some other colors mixed in, and they’re wonderfully reviewed at TF-1 and I have to admit that this Insecticons Clone Army 3-pack set would be a fantastic addition to my collection . . . if it was available at a reasonable price. I need to keep in mind just how much the prices spike on these special sets the next time one is released and I say “Hmmmm, that’s kinda expensive.” The prices on these things always keep climbing.
Amazon lists the set for $130*, which is expensive for a set that was $80 at TFSource. But that’s nothing compared to the $1,500 ToyWiz wants for the same set. Damn! $1,500? Kinda makes that $130 not look so bad.
Check the review, and sit back and enjoy all of the great photos. I especially love the ancient Insecter Robo boxes that are shown in the review. That’s some gorgeous box art design and artwork. It almost looks like Hasbro used that ancient artwork as a base for the artwork in the eighties. Actually, it looks like that’s exactly what happened. (Which wouldn’t be a shock since a lot of the art was shared back then.)
And before you try exploring the site I hate to report that it appears to be broken. Frustrating, because I’m betting there’s some good info hiding in there.
Lovely!
Sometimes there are exceptions though. Strafe, like you mentioned earlier. The Tokyo Toy Show Dreadwing set doesn’t seem to be appreciating much.
Last year’s botcon set is kinda weak on price too.
Not weak enough for me to afford them. Curse it.
Well to be fair, for $1500 it is AFA graded 100. That’s pretty hard to get and definitely sought after (if you’re into that sort of thing)
@Jamison – I still say $1,500 is ridiculous. And it would kill people out there because I would rip that pack open if it was given to me as a gift.
@Seth L – It seems like the really unusual eHobby designs increase — except for the black/green Ironhide/Ratchet design. But then that’s an ugly as hell robot and I can see why it wouldn’t be a huge hit.
Or maybe it’s just the sets I want that go crazy expensive.
$1500k? Remember when this was going for around 100-150 on BBTS. Passed on it then. Kind of regretting it but then again I don’t ever resell toys for investment so it was pointless even bothering at the time. The old E-Hobby exclusives are always going for a lot. The Astrotrain figure was rare for some time and fetched a couple hundred on the Bay.
@iRenew – Well, it is about $130 at Amazon and $150 on eBay so I think it’s gonna take them a long time to sell that $1,500 set.
