Spotted Online – Transformers Subscription Service Serpent O.R. Pics
Well this looks sad and nowhere near as cool as the club pics shown last year. The repaint of Transformers Generations Ratbat (review here) is expected to ship soon, and now we can see pics of the finished toy at tformers.com. The finished toy doesn’t look as awesome as I expected; I was expecting shinier, more metallic-like plastics. Why? Because of these images.
Why is it that the Transformers Subscription Service (Amazon.com search*) toys continue to be a little less exciting than they first seem? Are my expectations too high, or is the club cutting corners and not making these as incredible as they should be? Comment now and let me know, am I expecting too much from this series?

Still looks cool, but nothing like the promo pics. I appreciate that toy packaging and pre-release shots use slightly different toys to the finished product, but Hasbro’s TF photos often verge on highly misleading.
@Wolf – It feels to me as if they planned on a high-gloss or metallic paint/plastic and then switched to a dull, flat paint/plastic. I may have read too much into those initial images.
Yep, that’s both disappointing and wack. I loved the early photos, as they made it look like he’d have the same metallic paints as Ratbat, but these muted, flat, and unpainted plastics make him look like a knockoff. Definitely not worth the price of admission.
@rosewater – I guess I’ll see how it looks once it arrives. I’ve got a subscription this year. Metallic would have looked far cooler than what we see in these early pics.
