Spotted Online – Unofficial Transformers Sky Byte Announced at TFCon
There’s a thread at TFW2005 showing off the newly-announced unofficial Sky Byte toy and I’ve gotta admit that it’s looking very neat. Love the space pirate theme they chose; and click through for a teaser image showing many different sharks.
Can you believe how large the entire third party Transformers scene is growing? It feels to me like things are positioning themselves for either a crash — I don’t think the hobby can continue to support the toys at their current rate of release — or that Hasbro/Takara will find a way to start eliminating some of their competition. (Such as releasing the upcoming Metroplex* and finding ways to design Transformers with transformations and quality that rival the third party toys and at a much lower price.) But until something changes, though, I’ll just sit back happy knowing that we live in a world where someone can announce this completely unofficial — and fantastic-looking — Sky Byte toy.

You know what deserves the blame for all of these 3rd Party toys? Transforming Collection. 🙂 It really is amazing to see all of these products coming to light. As a consumer, I love being able to pick and choose my favorites (the fact that my favorites are comint to light at all is pretty amazing). As a completionist, I hate (well, my wallet hates it) seeing so many awesome pieces!
I love that KFC banner on the box!
So far the community has supported 2 Devistators and we’ll see how the 3? Predakings do.
@Paul – You’ve got me starting to wonder if my book has had an effect on the market. I just don’t see how, though, since under 1,000 copies were printed. But thank you!
@Court – And now at four Predakings. Four! That’s simply crazy.
4?!?!!? That’s insane lol
All I want is 1 good Computron and Defensor, and have at least seen the prototype for a Computron.
