Spotted Online – X-Wing Miniatures Game Custom Ships Including Wrecks
I mentioned last week how I would be happy to buy official starship wrecks from Fantasy Flight Games. I’ll admit I’m likely in a tiny minority of fans of the X-Wing miniatures game (Amazon.com search*) who would spend money on pre-painted wrecks, but that doesn’t stop me from crossing my fingers and hoping that exactly such a product happens.
Why am I unlikely to ever see official wrecks for sale? Well, because so many talented fans out there simply go to work and construct their own starship wrecks. Like the creative gamer who grabbed the TIE Bomber* miniature and constructed this fantastic wrecked version of the ship. Gorgeous!
And that’s only one tiny sample of the artistry fans have put into customizing miniatures for the game. If you’ve got the time then check out the dozens of fantastic customs on display at Hobby Before I Die! The wrecks are probably the pieces I most want, but there are also several YT freighters there that also look incredible. Kinda makes the YT-2000 model on Shapeways look even less useful when so many fans simply kitbash their own starship models for the game.
