Spotted Online – Yoshimasa Tsuchiya’s Wood Carvings
See this post at Arrested Motion for a look at wood carvings that Yoshimasa Tsuchiya created and prepare to wish that you could attend the show later this month at Megumi Ogita Gallery in Tokyo. Beautiful work, but I wish the description of the show included a mention of the size of the work. Are these microscopic sculptures or are they the size of a forest? I’m guessing the pieces are measured in inches at not feet, but if sizes were included I missed them.
Featuring enchanting and delicate creatures from his imagination, the new collection of wood carvings challenges the viewer to examine their own Private Myth. Tsuchiya states – “I think that mythology is a series of allegorical stories referring the origin of a group of people. Regardless the historical facts, mythologies are always taken over from generation to generation so that we maintain our connections to each other. And I believe that it even exists in our private relationships.â€
