Star Wars 3-D “Havoc on Hoth” Ad
Blackthorne Publishing’s big comic book gimmick in the eighties, as we have seen in a handful of advertisements from 1987, was the production of 3-D comics . . . complete with the red/blue 3-D glasses of the past! Each one of these comics I have encountered were bad, but it is the Star Wars comic shown in this 1987 advertisement that I remember best from three decades ago. The West End Games Star Wars roleplaying game was renewing my interest in Star Wars, so when I saw this comic at the store, I almost bought a copy. The artwork stopped me from spending any money on the book.

Threepio’s looking pretty buff, and Chewie is so fashionably coiffured… he should be decked out in Sonny Crockett duds. Apparently Tom Cruise from Cocktail and Eddie Murphy Raw also make appearances.
