Star Wars Micro Collection TIE Fighter and X-Wing Commercial
It feels like even after three decades since the line failed the Star Wars Micro Collection toys just don’t get much attention. The line was a hard sell for Kenner — just how many millions of 3.75-inch scale Star Wars action figures were out in the world by 1982? — and it was closed down very quickly because of poor sales.
That doesn’t mean this 1982 commercial for the Star Wars Micro Collection TIE Fighter and X-Wing shouldn’t be enjoyed by us all, though, because watching this is sure to make you want these toys. Love the battle damage feature! As always I say we need a book. It would’t have to be a long one, either, because not too many of these toys were ever made.

Even as a fan of the 3.75″ line, I was enamored with the Micro Collection toys. There was something cool about having the characters and ships so tiny, and it was even cooler being able to have whole environments as playsets, like Bespin and the elaborate Hoth system. The push-button self-destruct features on the ships were a lot of fun, as well.
Had both of those!
