“Star Wars: The Arcade Game Comes Home”
Even though the ad has a 1983 copyright date, this comes from a 1984 issue of Marvel’s Crystar comic book. By 1984 the Star Wars marketing engine had basically collapsed, and small pockets of business like Marvel, Kenner, and Parker Brothers were doing everything they can to continue the wonderful ride they had been on for seven years. Unfortunately, Star Wars would go into a quiet sleep very soon after this, and it wouldn’t be until 1991/1992 that things dramatically heated up again.
When this ad was new Star Wars games (Amazon.com search*) weren’t as common as they are now, meaning that it was easier to collect them all back then. And some did. I know, because I was friends with a few of the guys who had every single game.
